Dual screen laptops are meant for pros actually,  designers, filmmakers, photographers and really anyone who can’t live without a dual screen for everyday productivity. An extra monitor will cause the total weight of the laptop to increase radically.

The estimated price is around 3000$. Cool deal isn’t it.  Well let’s wait till Christmas to have our hands on it…

Windows Live Writer – Blogging Simplified…

Windows Live Writer – Blogging Simplified…

Jul 19, 2009

I’m very very lazy person, or else i can say i cant find time to blog in midst of my busy schedule. I seriously wanna blog, atleast a post on my every blog. As I was working on something I like to call “Making Things Happen (MTH)”; blogging also falls in that category. So i was in search of tools that will increase my productivity drastically. And as recommended by TheAnand, i just thought of trying Windows Live Writer; and as it loaded i know this is good. Although this is simple to use, I just thought of making out a tutorial out of this. So here is it. My so called first tutorial.

1) This is just asking for configuring your Live Writer

Capture

2) Next it asks for the blog service you are using. Actually I use WordPress only, since its “Content Management Simplified…”. I haven’t tried any others. Just choose the service you wish to use.

Capture1

3) Next entering your blog url and your login credentials.

 3

4) In the previous window also have the option to set proxy if you are running behind a  proxy. To set it click on Set Proxy on the left side of the window. Then enter your proxy server details.

6

5) Usually if you are using default installation of WordPress the following may show up. It says XMP-RPC is disabled now.

5

6) To enable it, login to tour WordPress dashboard and go to Settings –> Writing and in Remote publishing enable XML-RPC.

4

7) Now Windows Live Writer will configure your blog; It won’t take much time, but in the meanwhile if you are interested you can post a tweet or grab a cup of coffee. :)

   7

 8

 9

8) Now your blog has been set up.10

9) Blogging from this is very very simple. You can just type the stuff, there are various options like almost all WYSIWYG editor features. Saving draft locally and on your blog, opening it, starting new page or post etc.

The most attractive thing here is you are able to work on your wordpress theme itself. It downloads the theme are gives you a feel of working on your blog rather than any text editor.

Other options such as Insert

16

There are various image option such as   layout, margin, link to  etc in Picture tab; Size, rotate, contrast, watermark etc in Advance tab and Back & white, Sepia, Gaussian Blur etc in Effects tab  are available. I just love these features… :)

 15

And
you can add Category, Tags, Date, Slug, Password, Excerpt and Trackbacks too by clicking the arrow i mentioned in the picture.

You can also see the HTML version of the post/page, see in visual editor page and also the preview of it in your actual theme. Cool na…

17

And finally after you have done editing the post, just click Publish. It’ll post it to your wordpress or blog service.

12

That’s it, Keep blogging. Subscribe to my feeds…

FYI : All the screenshots here are taken using Snipping Tool in Windows Vista, Its a nice tool; you can except a post on that too…
